Abe Monju-in Temple

Abe Monjuin is an ancient temple in Sakurai city, Nara prefecture, dedicated to Manjusri Bodhisattva.

Abe Monjuin Temple was founded in 645, making it one of the oldest temples in Japan. The principal image is the Manjusri Bodhisattva, created by Kaikei in 1203, during the Kamakura period, and is designated as a national treasure.
*An additional 500 yen is required to visit the Ukimido Hall.
*Parking requires a separate fee.
*Please present your pass at the main hall reception.

The pass is valid only for the main hall. A separate fee is required to visit the Kinkakuji Ukimido Hall. Until around May 2025, for the first time in 15 years, Manjusri Bodhisattva will be depicted in a special pose, descending from his lion. If you are renting a car, please use the parking lot (fees apply).
