Saidaiji Temple

A Kamakura Buddhist temple that inherits Nara Buddhism and preaches esoteric Buddhism and precepts

Founded in 765 by imperial decree of Emperor Shotoku, the Saidai-ji Temple is one of the Seven Greeat Temples of Nara. During the Kamakura Period, it was rebuilt as the main training center for Shingon Buddhism for promotion of law and benefit of the people. The temple shelters many cultural assets.
